Western supermarket is about convenience and cleaniness. Everything is neaty displayed and desensitized (i.e. you can’t tell that that slab of meat in a plastic wrap used to come from a cow.) Chinese markets are all about fresh produce. Unfortunately, some markets in Hong Kong are moving towards the Western model. Very sad. :(

@dengelina, Western style has its advantage of being convenient and clean within the store, but then you lose the interaction with the merchants who sell you the food in traditional Chinese market. It’s sad to see the Chinese style market disappearing…
