曾經說過地下鐵路的車站是很殘舊的,究竟有多舊呢?

先進的例如月台幕門是沒有的,電子列車到站牌是沒有的,車站統一廣播也是這幾年才出現的事。更甚的是,一些現在認為是必需的車站設施,很多都不存在於紐約車站。例如大多數車站都沒有自動電梯,也沒有類似八達通的快速入閘,不過最大問題是九成九地底車站都沒有空氣調節。沒有空調,冬天也就算了,多穿件衣服就會暖吧,可是夏天就問題大了,空氣不流通的地底車站,不單只是極熱,還會從路軌滲出陣陣難聞的尿溢味,這簡直是……

說起沒有類似八達通的快速入閘系統,紐約捷運到現在仍舊使用舊式的磁卡系統,還要是乘客進行人手刷卡的,夠絕吧?由於是人手刷卡,所以經常發生刷卡方向錯誤,刷卡過慢過快手勢不對等等問題。

    之前在紐約待過十多天 (那時是冬天來的),每天都會坐一坐地鐵。奇怪地,當時又不覺得沒有自動電梯/人手刷卡有甚麼問題……:p
    地鐵站內的尿味真的非常強烈,車廂又總是會充斥著奇怪的味道,某些站看起來又十分殘舊……實在令人不敢恭維。

About contactless smart card – to be fair, through out America there’s only DC and Chicago implemented smart card technology in their subways for a couple of years, Boston, SF, Seattle, Atlanta and Minneapolis all started their trial or implement the technology in their system within last year or so. NYC is also conducting a trial since last year, so if comparing to other systems in America, NYC is comparable. But as a whole, all America’s subway systems are behind comparing to Asia and Europe for smart cards.

    但喺遊客見到就會覺得好特別,
    不過日日喺ny搭地鐵嘅人就慘啲,
    最慘我諗喺啲屎味,
    聯想到都想嘔! :p

  4. @hal9209, yeah, as a whole, the transportation systems in US are really behind! When will we get to use 八達通 in NYC?!

  5. According to the website, NYC subway system introduces MetroCard in 1997 and HK Octopus smartcard system was launched in 1997 as well. I really think NYC MTA should replace the token with smartcard at that time. I believe NYC MTA will need other 20 years or more to replace with smartcard.

    For the stink issue, I think it has to do with the homeless people.

  6. NYC MTA is old system and they are at least 5 to 10 years behind the current transportation system. They are always late.
